Stanley Nwabali, goalkeeper for Chippa United, recorded a shutout in Wednesday’s 3-0 South African Premier League victory over Richards Bay, a team playing with ten players down.
This was the second game back for the starting goalkeeper for the Super Eagles after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Even though the visitors created little danger, Nwabali maintained his composure in goal.
Justice Chabalala gave Chippa the lead in the seventh minute.
Five minutes after that, Craig Martin doubled the lead, and in the 54th minute, Abdi Banda was sent off.
The home team took advantage of this situation and scored a third goal in the 74th minute through Kayden Francis.
With this clean sheet, Nwabali now has eight for the season in seventeen PSL games. He is presently second in the league with two clean sheets, behind Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns, who has ten in just thirteen games.
